Our love letter to Art and Artists
We are proud to be a women-owned business that represents artists from a full range of backgrounds, ethnicities and identities.
We are a Set Decoration team with over 30 years experience, and have been working together for the last 6 years. In those years we’ve worked with so many scripts with characters from a wide range of backgrounds and ethnicities. This lead us to search for art and artists who reflect and share the heritage of our characters. It was a lot of work, requiring hours of research, hundreds of phone calls, and tons of organization and coordination.
We discovered scores of artists who create beautiful art that accurately represents the characters in the scripts we were working with. What delighted us most was how excited these artists were to be recognized and how willingly they worked with us. Many of them explained the challenges they face in gaining access to the traditional gallery system and being taken seriously as artists. They were grateful to be recognized and thrilled to be compensated for their art. We’re excited to work with both Set Decorators and Artists and bring them together quickly and easily.
How we got started
As Hollywood was slowing to a halt, due to the impending writers’ strike, we had time to realize the barrier many Set Decorators face in accurately representing their characters is the labor and time it takes to find individual artists to complement the heritage of those characters. LightsCameraArt! was born because we can create this connection! We can fill this gap in accessibility for both sides! What makes us unique is the bridge we create to facilitate the shift in media.
How it works
Our on-demand printing service allows Decorators to choose from a vast array of artistic styles that can be printed in a variety of sizes on substrates to fit your needs. Our printer is Radford Graphics. They have been printing high quality images for the entertainment industry for over 20 years. They understand our time constraints and the high quality our sets demand. Once your order is placed, it is printed and can be picked up at their convenient location in Studio City.
